8 Weeks Old

So I chopped off my hair today and when I came home Jeff and Noah greeted me at the door. Noah stared at me with a confused look on his face and then his little chin started to quiver and he began to cry. Jeff and I couldn't stop laughing as we tried to reassure him that I was still his mother even if I didn't look the same.

In other news Noah is LOVING his abstract art mobile that Aunt Katy and Uncle Pete sent him. It's over his changing table and he can't get enough of it. He just giggles and laughs away as he stares at the geometric shapes.

If only we could all be entertained so easily.

Jen Comes to Visit

"Auntie" Jen came to visit us and got a good taste of life with a newborn. We had a whirlwind of a weekend involving wine-tasting, going to the movies, having a dinner party, checking out the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts and just hanging out. We went on some great walks together and she laughed as I took Noah off-roading in order to calm him down. The weekend went by so fast and hope it won't be too long until we do it again.

7 Weeks Old

Cold weather is upon us. We had a high of 23 degrees the other day and it actually snowed last week (a big deal for Athens). We've been very good at braving the cold and Noah and I actually went out for a jog in 28 degrees. He doesn't seem to mind the cold at all as long as we bundle him up in his little "baby bunting."

Noah's First 5K--January 26th

Noah and I ran a 5K yesterday to celebrate his 7 weeks. :) A friend who was in labor at the same time I was owns a gym and sponsored a 5K yesterday. She gave me a weeks notice to get my running shoes out and didn't give me the option of not doing it. It was great motivation and I had a ton of fun. The race was really relaxed--we walked to the starting line and she said GO! and off we went. I ran the whole thing with a woman named Babs who was going at the same pace I was. Despite my heavy breathing up the loooooooong hill we still managed to carry on a conversation about our favorite books. It was somewhat surreal. Noah slept the entire way, but I'd like to think he would have enjoyed the race had he been awake. :)

6 Weeks Old

Noah has been smiling like crazy and loves to show off his dimples. He's cooing quite a bit and hit the milestone this week of reaching out and intentionally hitting things. We have a little ball with a bell inside it above his playpen that he bats at like a boxer with both fists. It keeps him entertained for a surprisingly long time.

5 Weeks Old

Our little longshoreman enjoyed some sun today as we picnicked in the backyard.

Not a Happy Camper

Noah failed his audition for the Lion King "Circle of Life" rendition. Jeff sang the song and everything but Noah was not amused.

The Agnosts Come to Town

Katy, Pete and James came to visit for 6 days and we had a blast. James is already 4 months old and was a giant in comparison to Noah at 4 weeks. Katy and Pete also gave us a great Christmas present...a night on the town. They baby-sat Noah and off we went for an evening of fine dining. Of course Noah chose that time to start his first growth spurt and switched from eating every 3 hours to every hour. I'm sure Katy and Pete started second guessing their gift to us as soon as we walked out the door. :) Luckily we weren't gone for long and no one was too traumatized. The growth spurt was pretty crazy though and wiped me out. 48 hours of non-stop breastfeeding...all I can say is wow.
